For payment processing and listings, all transaction and card data is handled securely via Stripe, and we do not store your credit card information on our servers.

2. Messaging History

To ensure homeowner safety and quality assurance, our platform securely logs chat interactions and project photos exchanged between Clients and Pros under active bookings. These logs may be audited by platform administrators in the event of a dispute or service moderation request.

3. Location Data

We calculate distances using the first three characters of your postal code (FSA) for privacy. We do not track real-time GPS locations of our users, only relative distance centroids to match homeowners with handypeople in their regional vicinity.

4. Security Standards

Handy Hookup adheres to standard Canadian privacy guidelines (PIPEDA) to safeguard user databases. We do not sell or lease your personal information to third-party marketing companies.

5. Data Encryption and Protection

To safeguard your sensitive personal data, Handy Hookup encrypts key information both in transit (using HTTPS/TLS) and at rest:

• Passwords are hashed using secure cryptographic functions (such as bcrypt) and are never stored in plain text.
• Sensitive Personal Identifiable Information (PII), including user email addresses, full names, and liability insurance policy numbers, are encrypted at rest using industry-standard AES-256 encryption.
• Secure Messaging: All chat messages and file attachments exchanged under active contract logs are stored in encrypted databases to ensure they remain private between the client, the handyperson, and authorized mediators.
